Redesign, website build, and ongoing SEO and marketing for Sutcliffe
Sutcliffe & Co. is a family-owned independent insurance broker specialising in specialist commercial and personal lines of insurance. Since 1984 they have been arranging insurance for many businesses and private clients across the UK from their base in Worcester.
The project
AlphaQuad has enjoyed a successful partnership with Sutcliffe & Co. for over a decade, providing support for their digital strategy, SEO, and content initiatives. In 2024, after undergoing a company rebrand, Sutcliffe & Co. aimed to revamp their website to reflect the updated brand identity while enhancing user experience, functionality, and overall performance.
We had already collaborated with Sutcliffe & Co. on the rebrand and redevelopment of their sister brand website, Mann Broadbent, so there was a cross-over between the two projects to ensure that the brands were cohesively aligned whilst differentiating the key elements of each brand. Our creative team collaborated closely with the client to define design requirements and establish digital brand guidelines that would shape the new website’s aesthetic and functional elements. Key objectives included:
- Visual Integrity: Using a clear design together with easily understandable iconography to portray the brand in a clear, professional and trustworthy way
- Brand Consistency: Ensuring visual alignment across both websites whilst retaining the essence and individuality of each individual brand through consistent design elements and a cohesive user journey.
- Enhanced Functionality: Building a flexible, user-friendly website on WordPress with a Themify setup, allowing non-technical staff to make updates easily.


The new website was designed with a strong emphasis on user experience, featuring a clean, user-centric layout, intuitive navigation, and clear calls to action that encouraged seamless exploration. Advanced SEO strategies were integrated throughout the redesign, ensuring that Sutcliffe & Co.’s rebrand not only preserved but also enhanced their search rankings and online visibility. The implementation of the Themify framework introduced greater flexibility and customisation options, simplifying content management compared to the previous ACF-based system. This update positioned the website for long-term ease of use and adaptability, making it future-ready.
The results
Since the launch of the new website, we have seen some significant improvements, including:
- 17% uplift in search traffic
- 13% uplift in enquiries
- Average ranking position up two places
- 42% of targeted keywords seeing an increase
- Site health score up to 90%
Beyond these metrics, the Themify installation has facilitated improved flexibility and ease of use for non-technical content editors compared to the previous ACF build.
